Algunas reflexiones en torno a diversos materiales cerámicos de la villa romana de Puente de la Olmilla (Albaladejo, Ciudad Real)

Abstract

Las labores arqueológicas llevadas a cabo en la villa romana de Puente de la Olmilla han desvelado interesantes aspectos de la configuración arquitectónica del edificio señorial, de su programa ornamental, cuestiones relativas a la distribución de las producciones cerámicas, de la circulación monetaria… e incluso nos permiten atisbar retazos de la ideología y las creencias del dominus, a través de la cultura material (composiciones musivas de tipo mitológico, una estatuilla de Minerva, una terracota, etc.). La mayoría de los materiales arqueológicos de este yacimiento son del siglo IV, al igual que sus pinturas murales y mosaicos, pero algunos fragmentos cerámicos y cinco monedas confirman que hubo una fase de ocupación previa (siglos I-II d.C.).

The Archaeological works developed in the Roman villa of Puente de la Olmilla have revealed interesting characteristics of the architectural configuration of the aristocratic residence and its ornamental program. We have also recorded information related to the distribution of pottery products, the monetary circulation, and some other aspects related with the ideology of the owner. The last issue can be approached through the use of different kinds of material culture as mythological mosaic decorations, a little sculpture of Minerva, and a figured terracotta. Most of the archaeological materials in this site and its mural paintings and mosaics are from 4th century, but some ceramic shards and five coins confirm that there was a stage of previous occupation (1st and 2nd century A.D.).
