Nuevas atribuciones a los escultores Adrián Álvarez y Francisco del Rincón

Abstract

Adrián Álvarez y Francisco del Rincón fueron dos de los maestros más destacados de la escuela escultórica vallisoletana de finales del siglo XVI y comienzos del XVII, aquella que se debatió entre los últimos resabios del manierismo romanista y los primeros brotes de un naturalismo que terminaría por desembocar en el Barroco. En las próximas páginas se propondrán una serie de atribuciones a favor de ambos escultores en función del parecido estilístico con otras obras documentadas y atribuidas.

Adrián Álvarez and Francisco del Rincón were two of the most outstanding teachers of the Valladolid School of Sculpture at the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century, the school that was debated between the last vestiges of Romanist Mannerism and the first outbreaks of a naturalism that would eventually lead to the Baroque. In the following pages we will propose a series of attributions in favour of both sculptors according to the stylistic similarity with other documented and attributed works.
