Fuente Ovejuna: de la crónica al texto dramático

Abstract

La comedia de Lope ha convertido en mito unos hechos históricos que desembocaron, en 1476, en la muerte de Fernán Gómez, Comendador Mayor de Calatrava, a manos de los vecinos de Fuenteovejuna, hechos cuya génesis y desarrollo no han podido ser completamente aclarados por los historiadores hasta el día de hoy. A partir de los relatos cronísticos y el conocimiento de la historiografía actual, se recompone el proceso que lleva a la conversión de la materia histórica en una comedia, siguiendo y alimentando los elementos de la leyenda

This comedy by Lope de Vega has converted the historical facts ending in the death of Fernán Gómez "Comendador Mayor de Calatrava" in 1476 into a myth. This reat was done by the neighbours of Fuenteovejuna, the origin and development of which have never been completly clarified hitherto by historians. Starting from the chronicles and the knowledge of the current historiography, the process leading to the conversion of the historical matter into a comedy is reset, following the elements of the legend while feeding them.
