El abismo de la duración infinita y el acontecimiento. La elegía II de Garcilaso de la Vega

Abstract

La Elegía Il es una obra original de la poética garcilasiana que centra su reflexión estética en la duración ilimitada, pura. Abriendo nuevos cauces, la escritura designa el acontecimiento como el elemento imprescindible, clave, que construye la temporalidad y le da sentido. En efecto, la ausencia de accidente hunde la voz poética en un tiempo que se extiende sin fin y que parece detenido. Salir de lo que no tiene medida es entonces la preocupación única de la voz y lo logra. Pues la elegía es de por sí el acontecimiento limitado, encerrado en el espacio que media entre un principio y un final. Y los lectores presenciamos su devenir que conoce una duración libre, su duración, que no es sino el poder de la escritura.

The second Elegy is an original work in Garcilaso's poetics because it focuses its aesthetic reflection on the unlimited duration, without any event. The novelty lies in the fact that writing makes the event be the fundamental basis on which temporality stands. Indeed the absence of event puts the poetic voice in an endless time and space which then seems frozen. Getting out from what has no measure, to live in a measured and limited time and space, is then the only concern of the poetic voice and therefore of the Elegy. Because the Elegy is limited by a start and an end, it appears as being the event itself. As readers, we witness the poem unfolding and we feel its duration, only due to the power of artistic writing.
