A general overview of the presence of statistics and probability and their pedagogy in pre-service early childhood and primary teacher education in Spain is presented. For this purpose, a first descriptive-comparative analysis has been carried out on the basis of the teaching guides of the 39 Spanish public universities that offer teaching degrees. The results show: a) it is present in 11 universities (28.2%) for the early childhood education degree, while it appears in 30 universities (76.9%) for the primary education degree; b) it tends to be offered in subjects that include other contents; and c) pedagogy training predominates over disciplinary training, with a certain imbalance with respect to research. It is concluded that it is necessary to rethink andimprove the current panorama, considering that we are in an information society in which a citizenry with solid training in this field is needed.
