Abstract

Weight of glands and organs of male Merino lambs 47 and 135 days old , showing a live weight of "12-31 Kg, has been studied. In relation to the live weight, heart, kidneys and thymus reduce their weight with age. Oppositely, the liver and testicles increase their relative weight with age. The spleen remains without changes. The allometry is lower than unity for brain, heart, kidneys and spleen and higher than the unity for liver and testicles.

A partir de un total de 30 corderos machos de raza merina, de 12 a 31 kg de peso vivo vacío, se analizan órganos y glándulas entre 47 y 135 días de edad. En porcentajes del peso vivo, el cerebro, corazón, riñones y timo disminuyen, mientras que el hígado y testículos aumentan, El bazo se mantiene constante. Alomótricamente este fenómeno es más claro. Destacan con valores inferiores a la unidad (bajas velocidades de crecimiento y desarrollo) el cerebro, corazón, riñones y bazo. Alcanzan elevadas velocidades de crecimiento y madurez fisiológica tardía (coeficientes alométricos superiores a la unidad) hígado y testículos.
