Abstract

Misting is one of the methods which has been proven to be effective in reducing heat stress in dairy cows under very dry and hot weather conditions. We have tested the system in the Guadalquivir Valley. We measured the rectal temperature and respiratory frecuency of heat stressed animals, before and after receiving the cooling treatment. La nebulización de agua es uno de los métodos usados para reducir los sintómas de estrés por calor en ganado vacuna lechero en climas muy secos y calurosos. Se ha puesto a prueba este sistema en una explotación del Valle del Guadalquivir. Para ello se midieron la temperatura rectal y el ritmo respiratorio de animales estresados por calor, antes y después de recibir el tratamiento de refrigeración. Se comprobó que, no se reduce la temperatura corporal tras el tratamiento.
