El papel de danzas y bailes en la comedia de corral en el siglo XVII

Abstract

La danza en general es un arte que ha acompañado al hombre desde el principio de su existencia, cumpliendo un papel más o menos importante según la época. A finales del siglo XVI y sobre todo durante el XVII adquiere más relevancia hasta el punto de convertirse en un elemento imprescindible tanto en la enseñanza, como en el divertimento del individuo. De esta forma la función que desempeña en las representaciones influirá decisivamente en el desarrollo de la propia danza como entidad independiente cuyo resultado será la conformación de la danza profesional española. Este artículo trata de establecer el carácter de tales funciones, concretamente, en la comedia de corral.

Dance, in general, is an art that has accompanied mankind since the beginning of his existence, playing a role of more or less importance depending on the period in time. At the end of the 16th Century and especially during the 17th Century its relevance increases to the point that it becomes an essential element both in education and the entertainment of individuals. Therefore, the function that dance carries out in the performances will have a decisive influence in the development of dance itself as an independent entity, resulting in the shaping of the professional Spanish dancing. This article intends to establish the character of such functions, specifically, in the comedy of corral.
